After a year of frantic home building and renovations, it’s time to showcase the best high-performance homes in the country. Share yours in the form of an inspiring project that creates a beacon of light by participating in this prestigious competition.
Lake City, Colorado, October 01, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Now in its 14th year, the competition recognizes the industry’s most authentic, beautiful and long-lasting projects and the professionals who design and build them. It highlights the best green homes that feature:
- Durable features
- Innovative design
- Whole house performance
- Integration into the natural environment
- “Above and Beyond” features that address environmental risks
Additionally, the program selects a Sustainable City of the Year and a Sustainability Superhero.
Winners will receive coverage in the January / February 2022 issue of Green Builder magazine via social media and promotional outlets.
“This year, we’ve added award categories for projects that go above and beyond,” says Matt Power, editor-in-chief of Green Builder. “For example, in California you might be building fire-resistant homes with metal roofs, embers-proof soffits, and fiber cement siding. In Phoenix, you can install exterior roof insulation, extend overhangs, and add mass to dampen temperature variations. If you are building in the Southeast, your project may include special flood and hurricane resistance measures. With this year’s Green House of the Year awards, you have the chance to showcase this important and innovative work and get the accolades you deserve.

“The project registration window is now open and you have until October 29 to complete your registration,” says Power. “Please consider entering your single-family home, community, multi-family project, townhouse or apartment building in this year’s competition. We could all use good news and inspiration. Why not demonstrate your mastery and innovation to the rest of the world! “
