GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare and Ameresco have completed a comprehensive solar photovoltaic project to serve GSK Consumer Healthcare’s site in Oak Hill, New York, located nearby in the scenic Catskill Mountains. Construction of the project was completed in April 2022.
The solar project includes over 17,000 modules with an estimated power generation capacity of 6.9 MW dc. This facility is designed to generate electricity equivalent to more than 70% of the Oak Hill site’s annual consumption and reduce its carbon footprint by 60%.
GSK Consumer Healthcare produces oral health brands such as Sensodyne, Pronamel and parodontax at this facility, and the company is no stranger to adding solar power at this point.
“The Oak Hill site is the 12th solar investment project for GSK and our Consumer Healthcare business, and we plan to implement further major solar and wind energy investments in the UK and US. United to put us on track for 100% renewable electricity by 2025,” said Mike Allen, consumer healthcare supply chain sustainability lead, GSK Consumer Healthcare.
“In order to form a more sustainable world, we must work together with large companies to implement energy-efficient solutions. I am so grateful that we were able to work with an organization like GSK Consumer Healthcare, which has set ambitious goals for its future and truly understands the need to implement renewable technologies at scale,” said Pete Christakis, Vice senior president. , Ameresco.
Have you checked out our YouTube page?
We have a ton of video interviews and additional content on our YouTube page. Recently we debuted Power forward! — a collaboration with BayWa re to discuss high-level industry topics as well as best practices/trends for running a solar business today.
Our longer side project is Field — in which we have awkward discussions with solar manufacturers and suppliers about their new technology and ideas so you don’t have to. We’ve discussed everything from trackless residential bridge fixing and home solar financing to large-scale energy storage value stacking and new utility-driven solar and home storage microgrids.
We also publish our project announcements for the year! Interviews with this year’s winners will begin the week of November 8. Go ahead and subscribe today to stay up to date with all that extra stuff.
