Some of us love the simpler things in life: an unorganized Instagram feed, wired headphones, or minimalist iPhone wallpapers. If you prefer a super minimalistic iPhone wallpaper, you should consider making your home screen blank. Sometimes app icons can clutter your iPhone home screen and it’s just not the relaxing first page you would like to see when you unlock your device.

In this article, we are going to go over four ways to create a blank homescreen on your iPhone. All the steps are simple and straightforward, so you will immediately get the results you want.

1. Remove apps from the Home screen one by one

The easiest way to create a blank home screen on your iPhone is to move all apps from the home screen to the next page. Here’s how to do it:

  1. First, long press any app on the home screen and select Change the home screen. This should activate jiggle mode.

  2. Once the jiggle mode is activated, move the application icons from the first home screen to the next screen by dragging them one after the other to the right edge of your iPhone.

  3. After that, your home screen should be completely blank, and you can enjoy the clean, uncluttered welcome that a blank home screen provides.

2. Fill your iPhone home screen with invisible app icons

Another way to personalize your iPhone’s home screen is to create invisible icons. To do this, you need to take a screenshot of a blank page, create some blank icons, and download the end result as a wallpaper. In other words, you create app icons using different parts of the screenshot you took. This way the icons will appear to “disappear” in the wallpaper as it is cut from the same fabric.

Let’s see how to do it:

  1. Activate jiggle mode on your iPhone by pressing any icon on your home screen.

  2. Swipe right until you come to a blank page.

  3. Take a screenshot of the blank page using the appropriate buttons.

  4. Then find and use a tool that creates blank iPhone icons. We recommend iVide for its ease of use, and the next steps will be instructions for using the tool. Alternatively, you can use the Makeovr tool to create invisible icons.

  5. Scroll down and select Add empty icons.

  6. On the next screen, scroll to Your screenshot heading and select Choose file to download the screenshot you took initially.

  7. Click on Send. Make sure you see a preview of your screenshot before sending the file.

  8. On the next page, scroll to Options section and generate your icons using the Bookmark option.

  9. Scroll down to see a grid of icons with your wallpaper in the background. Here you can select any of the icons and use the share button to add it as a bookmark to your home screen. You can repeat this process for as many icons on your home screen as you want.

If you change your wallpaper often, you will probably find this method a bit tedious. So let’s see another way to clear your homescreen.

With iOS 14, you can skip the trick of uploading your wallpaper to some websites and uploading empty icons. Here you have two options: either use a Siri suggestion or a transparent widget app.

The following steps will guide you through using the Siri Suggestions Widget:

  1. First of all, make sure your iPhone has the Shortcuts installed application. If not, download it from the App Store.

  2. Enter jiggle mode by tapping an empty area on your current home screen.

  3. Swipe right until you reach a blank page. Then press the plus button (+) in the upper left corner.

  4. Add three Siri suggestion widgets to your home screen.

  5. Make sure you are still in jiggle mode and press the points above the quay.

  6. Deselect all pages except the one with Siri suggestion widgets.

  7. Faucet Ended to exit jiggle mode, then remove the three Siri suggestion widgets you added.

That’s it! You have a blank iPhone home screen which allows you to enjoy your wallpaper. If you want to further customize your home screen, you can download custom app icons. The downside to this method is that you are limited to a single home screen page. To access your apps, you’ll need to use Spotlight search or your iPhone app library.

For the transparent widget method, here’s what you need to do:

  1. First of all, download and install TWid from the App Store.

  2. Activate jiggle mode by tapping an empty area on the home screen.

  3. Swipe right until you reach a blank page.

  4. Take a screenshot of the blank page.

  5. Open the TWid app on your iPhone and select the screenshot. It should appear in the middle of the app.

  6. Return to your home screen and re-enable jiggle mode.

  7. At the top left, tap the plus button (+) and search for the TWid widget.

  8. Add widgets and adjust images as you like, using widget editing option.

The TWid app is great because it automatically refreshes each widget every time you update your wallpaper in the app. This means that you still need to upload a new, blank home screen screenshot in the app, but it will do the rest. If you don’t get an automatic update, tap Settings> Refresh widgets in the app and everything should be in sync.

Personalize your home screen

Our iPhones are everyday companions, so there is no harm in customizing yours to suit your style and mood however you like. Each of the methods shared in this article has its own drawbacks, but the results are well worth it. Whether you choose to use a third-party app or change built-in shortcuts to brighten up your home screen, the goal is to make your iPhone as unique as possible.
