Since Facebook bought Instagram, the company has linked the two so that they can support each other in a number of ways. One of the most useful ways for Facebook and Instagram to complement each other is to give users the option to share Instagram images directly to Facebook.
Well, in theory you can share Instagram images directly to Facebook. In reality, the option is still a bit buggy at times but is improving.
If you are having trouble sharing images from Instagram directly to Facebook, here are some solutions you can try to resolve the issue.
You may have linked your Facebook and Instagram accounts long before Facebook bought Instagram.
However, the system behind the scenes seems to have changed with the acquisition, and the functionality that used to work reliably now looks a bit finicky. Still, integrations seem to improve over time.
The problem can take two forms. The first is telling you that the image has been shared successfully but never shows up on Facebook, and the other is that you are sharing something from Instagram, and it just doesn’t seem to do anything at all.
For your personal account, you will make the connection between Instagram and Facebook from Instagram.
If you also have a business Facebook page, you’ll need to make sure Instagram is allowed to post to your Facebook page.
Instagram shares are not showing up on Facebook
What should happen when you share from Instagram is that you see a confirmation saying “Your post has been shared successfully” and it appears on your Facebook page.
As mentioned above, sometimes you see this message, but nothing shows up on Facebook, and sometimes nothing happens at all, and you don’t see the message.
Anyway, here are some ways to fix it.
Log out and then log back in
The easiest and therefore the first thing to do is to exit and then come back to both Instagram and Facebook.
This simple solution can fix all kinds of issues with the apps individually, but it can also fix integration issues between the two services.
Log out of both services, then log back in, then test if you can now successfully share images from Instagram directly to Facebook.
Check the link between Facebook and Instagram
The ability to share depends on whether the link between your Instagram account and your Facebook account is intact.
Many users have found that checking the link and sometimes resetting it is enough to make Instagram shares on Facebook work again. Here’s how to check the link between Facebook and Instagram from your Instagram account:
- Open the Instagram app on your device and tap the profile icon at the bottom right.
- Tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
- From your profile, tap Settings.
- Faucet Account Center.
- Then tap on the accounts option.
- Check that your Facebook account appears in the list.
You may also be prompted to log into Facebook and verify the Facebook link by following these instructions:
When you first see Facebook in the list of linked accounts, it should be blue with the Facebook logo next to it, along with your name associated with your Facebook account.
If you tap on Facebook, you should be able to log into Facebook from Instagram by tapping “Connect”.
If that doesn’t work, let us reset the link to make sure Facebook is properly authenticated and linked to your Instagram account.
- Following the instructions above, go to the Account Center.
- Tap your Facebook account.
- Tap âRemove from account centerâ.
This will link or re-link your Facebook account with your Instagram account and allow you to share Instagram images on Facebook.
This should fix the problem. There is nothing to do in Facebook with a personal Facebook account. However, if you have a Facebook page for your business, the process is a bit different.
Connect my Instagram account and my Facebook page
If you have linked your Instagram account to your Facebook account but find that you cannot post to your work Facebook page, you need to make sure that you have allowed Instagram to post on your page. Authorize Instagram to post to your Page by following these instructions on your laptop or desktop computer using a web browser:
- Click on Settings at the bottom left of your Facebook page,
- Then click Instagram on the left side of the settings.
- Then click on Connect account.
- Finally, enter your username and password, then click Log in.
Clear app cache or reinstall Facebook
If you are still having trouble posting from Instagram to Facebook from your mobile device, the last thing to try is to clear the app cache on your device. Clearing the app cache can fix issues that have nothing to do with Facebook or Instagram. In the case of iOS, you’ll reinstall the app rather than just clearing the cache.
On Android, follow these instructions for Facebook and Instagram separately
- Press on Settings
- Press on applications
- Press on Facebook Where Instagram
- Faucet Storage room
- Finally, press Clear To hide
On iOS (not reinstalling the apps clears the app cache for the app in question):
- Faucet Settings
- Faucet General
- Select iPhone Storage or iPage Storage depending on the iOS device you are using.
- Faucet Facebook
- Faucet Delete the app
- Reinstall the Facebook app from the App Store.
- Repeat this same process for Instagram to get a clean install of both without the data.
