Instagram reading is here! Everything you need to know about the new feature

Did you have a really great year?

Thanks to Instagram Playback, you can now look back on some of your most incredible moments of 2021. This new feature, which debuted last Thursday, allows users to review everything they’ve shared on their Instagram Stories and share the 10 best history highlights in one. go quickly.

It’s “a way to reflect and celebrate 2021 ahead of the New Year,” Instagram TODAY said in an emailed statement. The social media company said Playback is meant to be “a reminder of all the memories and moments that made the year”, giving users the opportunity to remember their young and old.

How do you use Instagram reading?

Instagram reading is fairly straightforward to use, but requires that you have shared at least 3 stories in the past 12 months or have the story archive turned on.

To open the feature, hit the home button and you should see the feature appear at the top of your feed.

However, if you don’t see it there, chances are you already ignored the read message the first time it appeared. If this has happened to you, you can always use Instagram play by clicking on the 2021 sticker from someone else’s Instagram story.

Another way to create a reading is to find and go to the @creators Instagram account, select the 2021 Stories highlight, and click the 2021 sticker in the highlight.

What will I see on Instagram Playback?

As soon as you unblock the feature, Instagram will automatically populate a few photos and videos that you shared on your account in 2021.

What if I don’t like the photos / videos Instagram chooses?

If you think Instagram hasn’t picked your best highlights, you can edit them. To delete the ones you don’t want, press and hold on the story you want to delete until the trash can icon appears. Then click on the plus sign button to view more options that you can add to your reading.

Once you’ve organized your list exactly how you want it, Instagram will give you the option to share your 2021 read with your followers.

How many photos can I include?

Don’t get carried away because Instagram will only allow you to choose 10 photos to include in your reading. Choose wisely!

Why does this feature sound so familiar?

While Instagram Playback is new to the app, it’s nothing new to social media. This functionality is quite similar to that of Snapchat and Spotify Wrapped.

Spotify Wrapped lets you see which songs you’ve listened to the most over the past year, and Snapchat’s Year in Review shows you the content you’ve created on the app over the past 12 months. It also gives you the chance to share those memories with your friends.

However, if you don’t really like using Instagram Playback, you can always go back to the old fashioned way and use apps like Top Nine or Best Nine, which work in conjunction with the social media site. These apps find your most liked photos and put them in a collage that you can share on your Instagram account.

Should You Use Instagram Reading?

The choice is yours, but if you enjoy sharing your life with your friends on social media and are tired of constantly creating your own year-end photo galleries, then this feature is perfect for you.
