By investing in the comprehensive Revenue EDGE platform and engaging Calix Customer Success Services, Ontario and New York-based Trumansburg Telephone Companies (OTTC) rises above a crowded fiber market, achieving 25% annual growth with ProtectIQ advanced home network protection, and will soon launch Arlo Secure connected cameras to meet the unique needs of its seasonal subscribers
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX) today announced that Ontario & Trumansburg Telephone Companies (OTTC) achieved 25% annual revenue growth by leading security in Calix Revenue EDGE Suites (EDGE Suites) and Calix Premier Customer Success Services (Customer Success) support. To grow in the competitive fiber markets near Rochester and Buffalo, the 100-year-old broadband service provider (BSP) needed to deliver differentiated value to these communities. Many OTTC subscribers live seasonally in second homes, resulting in cancellations during the winter. This means that fast Wi-Fi is not enough to ensure subscriber growth and brand loyalty. To differentiate, OTTC engaged Calix’s award-winning Customer Success team to formulate a winning strategy focused on security services. Using turnkey services—ProtectIQ® and experienceIQ®—within EDGE suites, OTTC rolled out home network security and advanced parental controls to all subscribers in November 2021. The full Calix Revenue EDGE platform—including GigaSpire® BLAST systems, Calix Cloud, and customizable controlIQ® — made it easy for OTTC to bring these new security services to market within weeks and continue to grow its subscriber base. With these investments, OTTC leads its market with an enhanced value proposition and successfully differentiates its fiber broadband experience from any other.
In May, OTTC used ProtectIQ to prevent more than 5,000 threats from entering subscriber networks, a 40% increase in threats blocked from the previous month. This trend reflects global concerns about increasing digital threats and reinforces OTTC’s decision to provide home network cybersecurity to every subscriber. Later this summer, OTTC will continue to exemplify differentiated value with Arlo Secure. This fully managed connected camera solution in EDGE Suites gives subscribers peace of mind and more control over their home security while they’re away. OTTC continues to improve the subscriber experience and lead a successful expansion to increase revenue throughout the year by:
- Deliver value to 98% more subscribers through OTTC’s custom app. With the support of the Calix EDGE activation program, OTTC and Customer Success have collaborated to attract 98% more subscribers to the OTTC Smart Home app since last year. OTTC now has a direct communication channel with its subscribers to introduce new critical security services in addition to its managed Wi-Fi offerings. App subscribers have more control over their network, including regular reports on web threats, intrusions, malware, and viruses prevented from entering their home networks.
- Introducing new security services that give subscribers more control. By rolling out the managed home security solution Arlo Secure later this summer, OTTC will allow subscribers to monitor their seasonal properties from anywhere. Customer Success conducted on-site training sessions with OTTC installation technicians in preparation for the launch. By providing additional property protection – easily monitored from the OTTC Smart Home app – it meets subscriber needs and keeps communities safe while increasing revenue year-round.
- Leverage effective analytics and marketing materials to meet unique subscriber needs. By leveraging data and insights from the Calix Marketing Cloud, OTTC easily identifies subscribers most likely to benefit from Arlo Secure and helps drive more subscribers to the OTTC Smart Home app to access new services. Then, the vendor can go to market with customizable materials from the Electronic Content Generator (ECB), which is part of the Calix Marketplace Enablement Program. These materials perfectly position new security service offerings, communicating the growing value of OTTC and evolving the subscriber experience.
“The valuable guidance from Calix Premier Customer Success is instrumental in rapidly transforming OTTC’s business,” said Paul Griswold, senior vice president of marketing and general manager of New York at OTTC. “Customer Success has worked closely with our entire organization to increase efficiency and support the deployment of ProtectIQLiveIQ, and now Arlo Secure. As OTTC’s expansion continues steadily, the innovative Revenue EDGE platform allows us to easily introduce new services that meet unique market needs. Coming into the Rochester and Buffalo area, we knew that residential property protection was needed in these seasonal communities. By bringing Arlo Secure to market later this summer, we’re proving to our subscribers that we understand what they need while providing additional revenue and driving business growth.
As the first provider to bring fiber-optic broadband Internet to its New York communities, OTTC continues a 100-year legacy of providing the managed security services its growing subscriber base needs.
