NEW YORK (WJW) – After a truncated Macy’s Thanksgiving parade last year due to COVID-19, the 2 1/2 mile event is back in action this holiday season in New York City.

On Tuesday, the department store offered a behind-the-scenes look at the new floats set to make their parade debut on Thursday, November 25.

“Each year a new set of floats are designed and manufactured by the amazing craftsmen of Macy’s Parade Studio, a design and production facility that includes carpenters, engineers, electricians, painters, animators, balloon technicians. , sculptors, metal makers and decorators and costume designers, ”the company said in a statement.

The new floats are named as follows:

  • Birds of a Feather Stream Together by Peacock
  • Celebration Gator by Louisiana Tourist Board
  • Colossal Wave of Wonder by Kalahari Resorts and Conventions
  • Pirates in sauce by HEINZ
  • Magic meets the sea by Disney Cruise Line
  • The north pole with tiptoe (not shown)

In addition to the new floats, people can expect to see 23 more floats, five giant balloons (including one from Baby Yoda), 36 original and heirloom inflatables, marching bands, clowns, Broadway performers, dancers and , of course, Santa Claus during the parade.

Now in its 95th year, the event is slated to hit televisions at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
