PRNCE FREDERICK, Maryland – The Calvert County Council of Commissioners (BOCC) and the Agricultural Preservation Advisory Council announce that the application period for the County Purchase and Retirement Fund (PAR) program has been reopened until the 29th October 2021. Through the program, transferable development rights (TDRs) are bought, withdrawn and permanently withdrawn from the market to protect agricultural land from development.
The BOCC recently approved a new purchase price of $ 4,500 per TDR, which will replace the previously approved price of $ 4,000 in May 2020. The county will offer to purchase the development rights from willing sellers until exhaustion. funding.
Only current owners of agricultural preservation districts can apply. There is no cap on the number of RDTs that can be sold by an owner. Applications are classified according to a formula established in the rules and regulations of the Agricultural Preservation Program.
