Xbox set to introduce button remapping for Series X controller with incoming update

0

Good news has arrived for Xbox Series X gamers this week, as a new update will bring the ability to remap button functionality on the controller.

Currently tested by Xbox Alpha Insidersremapping functionality seems to be limited alone to the share button right now. However, with this, this particular button can go beyond its ability to share footage or snaps and expand to display parties and voice chat menus, achievements, or other screens. Cared for. Functionality can also be changed to single press or hold press. Very neat. It’s a feature that continues to elevate the new pad and create a bigger chasm between it for this new generation of machines and the best previous Xbox One controllers.

Although currently with the Xbox Insiders community, it should be rolling out to everyone on Xbox Series X and S in the (rather) near future once testing is complete – but that shouldn’t take too long. (No official word has yet been released.)

This is all good news for anyone looking to program that particular button to something other than sharing screenshots or clips, of course, but especially for anyone who wants some extra flexibility from their official gamepad in this moment. This also raises the possibility that additional remapping is coming to all buttons on the pad. We will see.

Xbox controllers are, predictably, some of the best Xbox Series X accessories out there, and having an extra pad or two is always great for charging and gaming, as well as customizing your setup a bit. On top of that, considering they are simultaneously among the best PC controllers, so this is good news for fans of the asymmetric controller.
