Friday 8 p.m.: Luton v Sheffield United
Television: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

It’s early days but Luton are struggling to replicate their performances last season which saw them qualify for the Championship playoffs thanks to a 6th place finish. They sit 18th with five points from five games while Friday’s opponents Sheffield United top the table and surpass their efforts last season to finish level on points with The Hatters.

They meet here at a crossroads. Can the Blades start and return to the top flight? Has Luton reached its ceiling? The 90 minutes on Friday night TV will go a long way in telling us that and I’ll try to break it all down with a quadruple bet builder here.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

The Blades are, understandably, Paddy’s big favorites to win, but they haven’t won away from home this season and have only avoided defeat once in their three days away. Luton, however, took a point from their two home games and their only win of the season came last time out at Swansea.

United’s away form is worrying, but they have visited some of the sides who should mix it up at the top of the table at the end of the season, Watford and Middlesbrough. They have the highest xG in the league and have missed the most golden opportunities while scoring the most. They should dominate Luton so we’ll start with Sheffield United will win.

While Luton generally try to keep things tight, United fans have witnessed plenty of goals this season. The Blades have scored over 2.5 goals in each of their last three games, a 10-goal streak.

The Hatters have only had Overs once, the 3-2 Carabao Cup loss to Newport in League Two, but there have been two goals in each of their last two so they are not at a million of kilometres. But, given United’s attacking numbers, I think we’d be wise to side Over 2.5 goals.

Although Luton have been far from prolific this season, they will imagine their chances of breaking through their visitors on Friday night. The Blades are lethal going forward, but they have to be as they have conceded in four of their six games this season.

Luton have only scored three goals in five league appearances but they will certainly have at least one good chance to get on the scoresheet. They were a bit wasted but we will be back Both teams score here, as United seem too fond of going forward to focus too much on their retention at the back.

Spearheading the Blades attack is Ollie Norwood. Iliman Ndiaye is their leading scorer in three but Norwood have three direct goals with one goal and two assists.

The former Brighton, Fulham and Reading midfielder has been their standout player so far and I think we’re getting a good price on Norwood will score or assist. If he doesn’t shoot, he loads the balls, so I’m happy to support him to play a big role here again.
